On average about 2% of all children have food allergies even though younger kids may be affected at a higher level, 5%-8%. Many children will outgrow their food allergy as their immune system grows and becomes stronger.</p>
<p>A food allergy is a condition of your bodies immune system. The immune system will create an antibody after the child eats a certain food. This antibody, immunoglobulin E (IgE) will bind to the food as well as allergy cells and the body will produce chemicals that will them cause allergic reactions. You see this in the form of hives,rashes, itching and even potentially lethal breathing problems.</p>
<p>The most common food allergies that are found in children are milk, eggs, peanut, tree nuts, soy (primarily in infants) and wheat. While most children will typically outgrow their allergy to milk, eggs, soy and wheat, often times they will not outgrow their allergy to peanuts.</p>
<p>Food allergy symptoms will show up quite rapidly after the child has eaten the food he or she is allergic to, usually within a few minutes to an hour of ingestion. Symptoms can vary from individual to individual child, but these symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhea, cramps, hives, swelling, eczema, itching or swelling of the lips, tongue or mouth, itching or tightness of the throat, difficulty in breathing, wheezing and lowered blood pressure. <p>Although many symptoms may appear to be a typical child illness, paying attention to reactions that occur during or shortly after your child consumes food can be a warning sign. You should consult your child's physician for a diagnosis of a food allergy.</p>

Once you identify foods that your child is allergic to, removing these foods from your child's diet is the best strategy to avoid allergic reactions. You should also read all labels on prepared foods to make sure that there is nothing in the ingredients that your child may be allergic or sensitive to.</p>
<p>Keeping the environment that you and your family live and work in clean is key to keeping most allergens at bay. <p>Add a few beets to a pan and cover the beets with water. The beets are simmered for about 45 minutes, or until they are tender. Remove the beets and use a paring knife to peel them after it has been cooled down. Slice or chop the beets and then add these vegetables back to the pan containing the boiled water. Let beets sit undisturbed for several hours in the water so the water can absorb the deep, ruby coloring from the beets. Pour the liquid through a piece of clean cheesecloth or a fine, mesh strainer. You will have about 1-1/2 cups of water. Optional - Combine the colored water with 2 teaspoons of a vinegar (careful many vinegars are made from corn). Fill the red food coloring in a jar and store it.</p>
<p>Berry Blue Food Color</p>
<p>Add 1-2 cups of water and 1 cup of blueberries to a pot. Fresh or frozen berries can be u Allow the berries to simmer on the stove for 20-40 minutes. After the liquid has cooled for about 15 minutes you can pour it into a blender and pulverize the mixture for 1 minute. Once this process is completed use cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer to separate the berry particles from the liquid. <p>Even though all of our packaged food is labelled with detailed contents, it is still very difficult to avoid particular food stuffs. Common intolerances such as Gluten and Dairy are relatively straight forward to avoid most of the time, and only really becomes an issue when eating out. The problem that many people face is that many chefs dont understand the implications of a specific ingredient on a person suffering from an intolerance. </p>
<p>Quite often a well meaning chef will add a small quantity of flour to thicken a sauce, believing that it will not be noticed. Indeed, if the intolerance sufferer doesnt implode on the spot, the chef is likely to believe that they have Gotten away with it and that the sufferer is not really suffering at all. They dont realise that sufferers usually suffer as the food is digested and the consequences last for several days.</p>
<p>This makes it very difficult for people suffering food intolerances as eating out can quickly become a huge gamble. The more foods you are intolerant to, the bigger the gamble and the greater the likelihood that you will accidentally eat something that will upset you. It is not always easy to provide a chef with a list of foods to avoid. The reason for this is that it is hard work to find good food that avoids many common foods, so many people will soon tire of trying to accommodate you. <p>Foods that your body has an intolerance to make very hard work for your body to digest, so you should avoid foods that trigger your intolerances at all costs so that your body doesnt have to be put though the trauma of struggling with something. <p>This can and does happen so its important to keep track of what you eat and try to eat as many different foods as possible.
