Common Rashes – Rash Diagnosis

by Linda Robison

Just hearing the word rash may make you feel itchy. The term itself covers a lot of territory. Basically common rashes alter the look and feel of your skin. Some are very small, while others may appear throughout the body.

The causes of skin rashes are nearly as diversified as the type of skin rashes. A person can get a viral rash, bacterial rash, one caused by fungus, a sun poisoning rash, sweat rash, or one even brought on by stress.

Looking at pictures of skin rashes might give you a basic rash diagnosis. However, many rashes behave alike so getting a medical skin rash diagnosis and treatment protocol is always a good idea.

Common Types of Rashes: One of the most common rashes is Atopic dermatitis, which is a kind of eczema. This rash is one tied to genetics and usually manifests in childhood. The general symptoms include patches of dry, scaly skin on the legs, arms, and chest.

Another very common type of rash is contact dermatitis. Simply put, your skin reacts when it comes into contact with an allergy or irritant. Poison ivy rash is a good typical example.

Two other types of rashes that are scaly in nature are psoriasis and pityriasis rosea. Psoriasis is often times genetically linked and can appear as a leg rash, elbow rash and on the knees.

Internal Rash Aid: If you experience any type of common rashes such as prickly heat rash, fungal rash, or HIV rash then you might consider using a natural supplement to cleanse the skin from the inside. Ive been recommending a natural herbal/biochemic tissue salt combination product.

These homeopathic tablets are taken internally to boost the immune system and hydrate the skinkeeping it healthy. And its much cleaner that messy lotions, potions, or creams.

Strep Rash – Types of Rashes

by Linda Robison

Strep rash also known as scarlatina or scarlet fever is one of the more common types of skin rashes. And it usually occurs during a bout of strep throat. Since many rashes look similar its difficult to get a skin rash diagnosis.

Looking at pictures of skin rashes, youll see that many look similar which is why getting a diagnosis is difficult. That is why its best to see your physician to get a skin rash diagnosis.

According to the American Dermatology Association a strep rash usually appears about 12 and 48 hours after strep throat manifests. Some symptoms of strep throat include a headache, sore throat, high fever, swollen glands and infected tonsils.

A strep rash looks like a sunburn with small red bumps. These bumps usually start out on the check, but can turn into a groin rash, underarm rash and rash on the legs. Any area that warm, moist or sweaty can develop a rash.

A strep rash is red until you press on it, then it turns white. This type of rash could take up to 7 days to go away and the skin might peel a bit for a up to a month afterwards.

Strep rashes are most common in children and young teens 5-15 years of age. Antibiotics are the most common course of treatment and may clear the strep throat and rash, but the itching might still persist.

While most strep rashes occur due to a strep throat, it is possible for this rash to develop in response to a skin infection. This is serious and should be looked at by a physician.

While a strep rash is not contiguous, the strep throat infection is. You can reduce your risk of contracting it by washing hands frequently, keeping your fingers away from your face, and taking an herbal tonic to build up the immune system and keep the skin healthy.

How Children’s Bedroom Furniture Can Cause Allergies

by Felicity River

If your child has allergies there are plenty of choices in bedding available to help. Some easy steps and shopping around can prevent allergic reactions in children due to their bedding or bedroom furniture harboring dust mites. I know it's yucky to think about but it's the feces of those mites that cause the allergies.

Any good retailer for bedding, whether they're online or down the street. offers a variety of certified hypoallergenic products at good prices. It's a good idea to start with a vinyl box spring case. They last a long time plus they're waterproof, easy to clean, and not hospitable to dust mites.

Secondly, and maybe even more important, is get a cover for the entire matress. Mak sure you measure your child's mattress beforehand so it fits good and tight.

Another very important way to prevent allergies is getting a hypoallergenic certified pillow because their fabric very tightly sewn to keep dust mites out. They also come in synthetic down which is an excellent deterrent to mite reproduction. Plus they can keep out mold or bacteria that just make things worse. Pillows should be replaced every two years at the very least.

Whatever bedding product you are looking at buying, be sure to find the asthma and allergy friendly certification mark. Not only are these products created with barriers to allergens, they are specifically made without chemicals that can irritate or cause allergic reactions. This goes for sheets and duvets as well.

Wash the bedding in high temp water and dryer. Every 3 months or so, thoroughly clean the mattress and box spring.

To inhibit dust mite contamination, change the linens once or twice a week. Run a vacuum over the mattress, pillow, or blankets when you do.

A couple other tips for helping your child's bed stay allergen free; when you make the bed, shake out all the bedding and fold back the blankets. This helps to stop humidity from building, which dust mites thrive in. Also be sure to keep headboards and bedside tables dust free.

After you vacuum the children's bedroom, wait until the dust settles for about 2 hours before you make up the bed so it won't settle there.

Tips On Keeping Your Children’s Bedroom Furniture Allergy Free

by Dennis Kiefer

If your child has allergies there are plenty of choices in bedding available to help. Some easy steps and shopping around can prevent allergic reactions in children due to their bedding or bedroom furniture harboring dust mites. I know it's yucky to think about but it's the feces of those mites that cause the allergies.

Any good retailer for bedding, whether they're online or down the street. offers a variety of certified hypoallergenic products at good prices. It's a good idea to start with a vinyl box spring case. They last a long time plus they're waterproof, easy to clean, and not hospitable to dust mites.

Next, a mattress cover that encases the entire mattress. Before selecting a cover, measure your child's mattress (width, length and especially depth) to ensure you purchase the correct size.

Next lets talk pillows. You can find allergy friendly certified pillows which have tightly woven outer fabric that inhibits dust mites and even pet dander from entering. Many pillows are also available with hypoallergenic synthetic down and/or films that inhibit mold or bacterial growth that can also irritate an allergy. These pillows are durable, affordable, and comfortable. And remember that pillows should be replaced every two years.

Regardless of what brand you buy make sure it's got a mark of certification against allergies. They stop allergens but are also made without chemicals that can cause reactions. Remember it goes for all bedding including sheets, duvets, and pillows

And read each product's washing instructions, as they may vary. But the general rules of thumb for washing bedding is at high temperatures for both washing and drying. Conveniently, Box spring and mattress casings only need to be cleaned 3-4 times a year.

To inhibit dust mite contamination, change the linens once or twice a week. Run a vacuum over the mattress, pillow, or blankets when you do.

Since dust mites love humidity you can do a couple more things to keep it more inhospitable. When you make the bed fold the blankets down. Also ensure that the headboard and bedside tables are dust free.

When you vacuum your child's room, wait 2 hours before replacing the bedding. Dust settles after vacuuming somewhere in that time, and you don't want it settling on a fresh bed.

With a few changes, a child's bed can be a much more comfortable place at night, relatively free of allergy symptoms. This will help yourself as a parent rest better too.

Fun Easter Treats To Consider For Those With Food Allergies

by Chris Channing

Children enjoy Easter, or the holiday they know better as the day in which they obtain a large amount of candy. The candy can sometimes be surprisingly unhealthy, even if the children in question don't have food allergies. By switching to organic candy you can ensure healthiness and enjoyment at the same time.

Organic gummy-based candies have always been popular with children. The gummy worm has been the most popular, both for its entertainment value in eating and the humor in eating a tasty form of a creepy-crawler. Organic gummy worms are a sheer enjoyment to consume, since they are crafted from real fruit juice and organic ingredients. You should notice a drastic change in taste, and surprisingly for the same price you would pay otherwise.

The lollipop has long been used as a form of positive reinforcement in children. After all, you see them in a doctor's or dentist's office to help cheer up children who may have an aversion to medical environments. Organic suckers and lollipops are formulated only out of natural ingredients, and are made in a factory that has been verified as safe.

Gum is used as a form of release, to freshen breath, and to otherwise provide an entertaining and tasty experience. The problem is that the majority of all gum created today is done so with allergens that could harm children with food allergies. In addition, such gum has a negative effect on health. Organic gum such as that of "Glee" chewing gum is something even those without allergies should consider.

Easter time wouldn't be complete without the chocolate bunny that it is known for. Chocolate bunnies can be found online and through local stores that are friendly to organic products. If you would prefer a classic candy bar-styled piece of chocolate, "Choco Boom" products offer tasty non-dairy recipes. Organic chocolate is just as tasty as regular chocolate- so you won't notice a big difference. Chocolate can also be used in desserts to help create more possibilities for Easter fun.

Black licorice seems like it has been around for many generations- giving parents and their children or grandchildren a common interest in good candy. You can obtain organic black licorice if you would like to pass on the tradition to those with food allergies. You'll find that organic black licorice tastes much more flavorful than your regular run of the mill black licorice candies.

Closing Comments

A good allergy won't hold you or loved ones back when it comes time for holidays such as Easter. All Easter candies you find today can be found in organic form with the right amount of searching. The buying process can be fun if you allow it to be, and the enjoyment from the product makes the experience all the better.

How To Live With Allergic Asthma

by Carrie Woodhouse

When allergy strikes, in more than half of the cases it doesn't come alone, but together with allergic asthma. Being incurable diseases, the only hope for the sufferers is the symptomatic medication, like antihistamines, which helps them live a normal life and keep the ailment under control.

Are you diagnosed with allergy to something? Then you'd better stay away from those allergens that give you the naughty symptoms. The more you expose yourself, the more your symptoms will become more severe. Death is also possible, so don't ignore this piece of advice.

An efficient prevention requires that you know precisely what are the allergens your body's immune system reacts to. There are standard tests such as the Rast and the Eliza, which indicate accurately enough the most active allergens for your situation. Tests are not painful and they are rather cheap. Check with your doctor and maybe he'll tell you more about that.

Spring and fall are two seasons which are dangerous for allergic persons, especially if they have airborne allergies. Pollens are everywhere in these times of year, so sufferers should try to stay indoors as much as they can. If this is not possible, at least avoid getting out in the second part of the day.

Allergy to food is easy to keep under control: read the labels carefully and do not buy any product which contains the foods that cause you allergy symptoms. There are cases of people who got almost killed by peanut traces in chocolate.

People who are allergic to pet dander should be very careful with their pets. Do not groom your pet by yourself. Ask another member of your family to take care of the pet's hygiene for you. Give up carpets in your house and vacuum very often. Steam cleaning can be highly beneficial as well.
