One thing that many people do not realize is that the air outside is much cleaner than house hold air. You can keep the air inside cleaner by leaving the windows open, getting a high efficient air conditioning filter, or you can look into buying an air purifier.

I am sure that you have seen these advertised before, whether it be walking around a shopping mall, or on the internet. But there are a handful of people that are not sure if it is worth the money to invest in one.

The truth is that air purifiers can be expensive to purchase, but you need to remember one thing. They result in clean air, which is easier to breathe. Now how can you go and put a price on something like that?

Now if you are sold on that fact that they make your home air cleaner, you need to do some more research on what kind of air purifier you should get. You must remember there are certain types designed for certain tasks of purifying the air.

First thing you might want to look into when buying an air purifier, is how much, if at all, the maintenance of it is going to cost you. This is because some air purifiers are designed to have a filter changed every couple months to a year, and filters can become expensive.

Know the price of the filter, and how long it will last before it needs replacement is a must when choosing an air purifier that uses filters. The ones that use collection grids instead of filters may cost more initially, but they are cheaper down the road as you are not paying for replacement filters.

It is also important to look over what you will be using your air purifier for. A big number of persons use air purifiers if they have pets or if they have a smoker inside the house. With that being said, not all air purifiers are made to get rid of these types of particles from the air.

Because not many models are made to get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke, it is very important that you read exactly what it is the air purifier is designed to do, or you could be making a costly mistake.
